The City of Joliet has announced changes to traffic patterns and street closures at the Six Corners intersection, effective July 31, 2025. The adjustments are part of the Plainfield Road Water Main Improvement Project, which requires new pavement at the intersection of Plainfield Road/Black Road and Ruby Street/Raynor Avenue.
According to city officials, northbound traffic on N. Raynor Avenue from Mason Avenue to Black Road will be closed. Eastbound traffic on Black Road from Prairie Avenue to N. Raynor Avenue will also be closed. However, westbound Ruby Street and southbound Raynor Avenue will remain open during this stage of construction. One lane in each direction on Plainfield Road will stay open as well. Local detours will be provided.
These temporary measures are scheduled to begin on the morning of July 31 and are expected to conclude by August 7. Drivers are encouraged to find alternative routes while work is underway.
"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone," stated city officials.
Further information about the project can be found at www.joliet.gov/construction-zone. Questions can be directed to the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.
