Patricia J. "Pat" Martin, 81, of Orland Park, Remembered for Warmth and Adventure

Patricia Jean Bednarczyk Martin, known affectionately as "Pat," peacefully passed away on July 14, 2025, in Orland Park, succumbing to a prolonged illness with her loving husband, John "Jack" Martin, by her side.

Survived by her devoted husband Jack for 49 years, Pat is remembered by her sisters Betty Gacek, Dolores Cmelo, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Bednarczyk, parents Walter and Anna Kijewski, siblings, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, father-in-law, and nephew.

Born on December 21, 1943, in Chicago, Pat graduated from St. Willibrord High School. While excelling in various roles, Pat found the greatest pride in being a homemaker. Her marriage to Jack in 1976 led to adventures in eight U.S. states and enriching travels. An avid golfer, Pat cherished walks with friends. Her deep love for family and her beloved dogs, now at the Rainbow Bridge, defined her. Pat's loyalty, fun-loving spirit, warm nature, and kind heart will forever endear her to those who knew her.

A visitation in memory of Pat is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m., at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Private family interment will ensue. Donations in Pat's honor may be made to NAWS Humane Society in Mokena.
