Bill Hubert, 85, Remembered for Strong Work Ethic and Love of Outdoors

Bill Hubert | Baskerville Funeral Home - Wilmington

Bill Hubert, aged 85, of Kankakee, Illinois, formerly of St. Anne, passed away on July 14, 2025, at his home. Born on January 24, 1940, in Papineau Township, he was the son of the late Donald and Theodora Hubert. Bill excelled in his career in the trades, working with both the Local 501 Pipefitters Union and the Local 571 Laborers’ Union, where he held leadership roles as a foreman and was known for his dedicated work ethic.

Beyond his professional life, Bill was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also had a passion for classic cars and attending car shows. An enthusiast of softball, football, and drag racing, he appreciated spending time with family and friends. Bill's easygoing nature and practical approach to life enriched the lives of those he encountered.

Survivors include his four children: Mark, David, Paula, and Audra; grandchildren: Kristina, Cierra, Garret, Tyler, Julienne; great-grandchildren: Delilah, Acacia, Aurora; brother, Ray Hubert; and niece, Dana Dickson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne, daughter-in-law Juliette Hubert, and niece Amy Provost.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been arranged. Memorials in Bill's name may be made to the St. Anne Presbyterian Church. A memorial gathering will be held on August 2, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Anne, Illinois.
