Barbara Lee Mathison, known as Barb, aged 73, of Campus, IL, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. Born on April 22, 1952, in Pontiac, IL, to the late Leo and Christina Foley.

On May 21, 1971, Barb married Dennis Mathison in Pontiac, IL. Together, they shared 54 years of love and companionship. Barb spent over 30 years as an employee at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight, IL, demonstrating her dedication to her work.

A devout Catholic, Barb's faith was evident in her actions, marked by compassion and service. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother who found the greatest joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, inviting home.

Barb found happiness in life's simple pleasures, from enjoying her favorite coffee to tending to her garden with pride. She appreciated the beauty of nature, especially the vibrant colors of her flowers and plants. An avid lover of the outdoors, she cherished moments of sunshine and treasured visits to their cabin in Missouri.

Known for her legendary strawberry jam, Barb's generous spirit extended to serving her community at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Campus, Illinois. She held a special place in her heart for Bailey, her loyal and beloved dog and constant companion.

Barb's memory lives on through her husband Dennis Mathison, son Craig (Cassie) Mathison of Reddick, IL, daughter Christi (Travis) Richards of Las Vegas, NV, and five cherished grandchildren: Cameron, Carson, and Caden Richards, Charlie, and Hazel Mathison.

She is survived by a loving extended family and many dear friends whom she touched with her warmth, laughter, and kind heart.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

Barb's wishes for cremation rites have been fulfilled and entrusted to R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory in Braidwood, IL. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced in the future.
