Margaret T. Lohmar, 85, of Crest Hill, Illinois, formerly of South Holland and Mattoon, IL, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025. Born on July 4, 1939, at Fort Jay on Governors Island, New York, Margaret was raised during her father's military career, living in various countries and graduating from the Paris American High School in France. She later earned a degree in elementary education from the University of New Mexico, where she met her husband, Ernest Lohmar.

Margaret's dedication to education was evident in her roles as a civil service clerk-typist at the Army Ballistic Missile Agency, teaching in Huntsville, Alabama, and volunteering as a teacher's aide and librarian in Illinois. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ernest, children Margaret, Joseph, and Gregory, and grandsons Matthew and Ryan. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, and daughter-in-law.

Visitation for Margaret will be held on June 4, 2025, at Anderson Memorial Home in Plainfield, IL, with a prayer service on June 5 at the funeral home, followed by burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Lightways Hospice are appreciated in lieu of flowers. Margaret will be remembered for her commitment to education and the love she shared with her family.
