Soil cell installations along most of the Chicago Street corridor have been completed, marking significant progress in the ongoing construction efforts. The foundation excavation for city square components is also underway, with masonry elements on the main stage nearing completion. ComEd crews have successfully placed concrete in the reconstructed underground vault between Cass and Clinton Streets.
In the upcoming week, ComEd crews will start reconstructing the underground vault in front of the library. Asphalt paving of disturbed trenches on Chicago Street north of Cass is expected to be finished. Electrical installations within the City Square area will continue, and planter curbs will be constructed in parkways between Jefferson and Clinton Streets.
Parking restrictions will be enforced along Chicago Street adjacent to work zones while crews are actively working, with daily closures anticipated. Foundation work on the gathering structure in City Square is set to begin soon.
Concrete has been placed for a newly reconstructed underground electrical vault on Chicago Street between Clinton and Cass. Electrical systems under the main stage are being installed, and soil cell components are being positioned around existing utilities.
