Will County taxpayers paid approximately $17.6 million in County Motor Fuel Tax in 2023, according to Illinois tax records.

This figure marks a significant increase over the previous year, when County Motor Fuel Tax collection stood at approximately $16.5 million.

The County Motor Fuel Tax is a local sales tax levied on motor fuels, with revenue dedicated to transportation infrastructure projects such as road construction, maintenance, and repair. It aims to enhance road conditions, improve safety, and facilitate efficient transportation.
