Work continues on the Chicago Street Corridor, with Com Ed crews focusing on the reconstruction of underground vaults. The work has progressed on Chicago Street between Jefferson and Cass Streets. Com Ed has completed vault reconstructions at #60 N. Chicago Street and within the park area at the southwest corner of Chicago and Clinton Streets. Further reconstruction efforts are planned for the underground vaults between Clinton and Cass Streets, which will keep this section closed to traffic.

As of the week of March 3, a general contractor has begun electrical work in areas where Com Ed's work is complete, specifically between new curbs and sidewalks. To facilitate ongoing construction during adverse weather conditions, a large tent has been erected at the City Square site. Construction is set to begin on underground electrical conduits, irrigation systems, and structure foundations in the southern third of the square.

Chicago Street remains open to all traffic between Van Buren and Clinton Street; however, daily activities may affect traffic flow due to equipment staging in nearby parking lanes. Despite these activities, sidewalks will stay accessible during streetscape improvements involving roadway lighting and planter areas.

Preparations are underway for constructing a temporary tent enclosure near Van Buren Street. This tent is being erected west of Chicago and Van Buren Street.
