Will County taxpayers paid $3.1 million in County Share of RTA Sales Tax in October 2024, according to Illinois tax records.

This figure marks a significant decrease from the previous month, where County Share of RTA Sales Tax collection stood at $3.3 million.

Over the past 12 months, Will County's residents have collectively paid a total of $37.2 million in County Share of RTA Sales Tax.

The County Share of RTA Sales Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for other taxing jurisdictions use.

Despite fluctuations in tax collection, Illinois continues to be one of the highest-taxed states in the U.S. According to a Wallet Hub study from March 2023, the state ranked as having the highest tax burden, approximately 39.83% above the national average.
