Village of Romeoville Village Board met Dec. 4.

1. CALL TO ORDER

24-3400 A Presentation by the American Legion Post 52

Members of the American Legion Post 52 presented Trustee Aguirre with a plaque to recognize her efforts and support of St. Baldrick's. Trustee Aguirre thanked the American Legion for inviting her to be a part of it.

Mayor Noak expressed his support of the American Legion and the St. Baldrick's organization.

24-3402 A Presentation on the Romeoville Firefighter and Romeoville Police Pension Fund Municipal 2024 Compliance Reports

Christi Jacobson, Finance Director, gave a brief explanation and overview of the Firefighter and Police pension funds based on the findings of the 2024 compliance report.

Mayor Noak commented that the Village continues to be one of the most well funded pensions in Illinois.

ORD24-1945 An Ordinance for the Levying and Collection of Taxes for the Village of Romeoville, Will County, Illinois, for the Fiscal Year Commencing the First Day of May, 2024 and Ending the 30th Day of April, 2025

Ms. Jacobson explained both ORD24-1945 and ORD24-1946 together.

Ms. Jacobson gave a brief explanation and presentation of the levy, collection of taxes, and maximum tax rate.

Mayor Noak explained that it is projected that the Village's tax rate will go down again for the 10th year in a row.

ORD24-1946 An Ordinance Establishing Maximum Tax Rates for The Village of Romeoville and Authorizing the Village Manager and Finance Director to Make the Appropriate Adjustments and Abatements to the 2024 Tax Levy for the Village of Romeoville, Will County, Illinois

RES24-3936 A Resolution Approving an Easement Agreement with Wespark Master Association

Chris Drey, Public Works Director, explained that the Village identified 5 locations to add additional bike paths in order to connect to the current bike paths through town. This specific agreement allows for the Village to do the connection in Weslake.

Mayor Noak congratulated the Public Works department in the job they do.

RES24-3937 A Resolution Authorizing a Sponsorship/Naming Rights Agreement with Thomas Motors of Joliet, Inc. dba Romeoville Toyota (Deer Crossing Park)

Rich Vogel, Village Attorney, explained that this is a continuation of a current agreement for an additional 5 year term with the option of a further 5 year term for the naming and logo rights on the Deer Crossing Park Amphitheater with Romeoville Toyota. This has been a successful experience for the Village so far.

Mayor Noak commented that it is nice to have car dealerships in town and it has been a success partnership so far.

A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Richards, to do a consent agenda. The motion carried by the following vote:

Mayor Noak explained the events the last two weeks such as ribbon cuttings for Verilife and Romeoville Urgent Care, the opening of the new Romeoville Mercedes Benz, the turkey giveaway at the Fire Department, Harvest Saturday, and a visit with residents of StoryPoint. The tree lighting and holiday lights festival is this Friday.

10. BOARD COMMENTS (including Commission, Committee, Liaison Reports)

Trustee Chavez- Condolences to the Ed Spiecker family, the family of Loretta Offerman, and Teddy Allen. This Friday is our Holiday Lights. Great job by our Rec Dept. team who were on WGN promoting the Holiday Lights Festival.

Trustee Griffin- Congratulations to Lou and the American Legion for their work with St. Baldrick's. Congratulations to Romeoville Toyota and thanks for supporting the community.

Trustee Clancy- Condolences to the Offerman family and Teddy Allen. The tree lighting will be December 6th and photos with Santa will be December 7th. The Aquatic Center is running a promotion. The A&E will be hosting a craft fair.

Trustee Richards- The American Legion does a great job with so many things they support. Thanks to Trustee Lou Aguirre to help make that happen. Car dealers employ a lot of people who don't all live here but will contribute to the sales of our community. Glad to see Romeoville Mercedes is opening and that Romeoville Toyota continues to sponsor our events.

Condolences to the Offerman family on the loss of Lori. Rich and Anne from the Rec Dept. did a great job on WGN. That was a great promotion for the Village. The next meeting for the Planning and Zoning Commission is canceled.

Trustee Aguirre- The next Fire and Police Commission meeting is December 10th. The next Conservation and Sustainability Committee meeting is January 22nd. Thank you to the American Legion for the recognition. St. Baldrick's is a great cause. Condolences to the Offerman family. Condolences to the Allen family. Rich and Anne did a great job.

Thanks to Toyota for continuing to support the community.
