Emily M. Forsythe | Fosythe Gould Funeral Home
A graduate of Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, Emily served in the Cadet Nursing Corps during WWII and was instrumental in the founding of Joliet Hospice Care. She and her husband established the Forsythe Funeral Home in 1949, where Emily brought her nursing expertise to the Forsythe Ambulance Service and Funeral Business. Emily was deeply involved in the community, serving as a sacristan, CCD teacher, and eucharistic minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan. Her commitment extended to the diocesan CCW and Manhattan American Legion Auxiliary Post #935.
A highlight for Emily was meeting President James and Rosalynn Carter and Pope John Paul II at the White House. Emily's love of travel was complemented by her joy in returning home. Her greatest pride lay in her family, who brought her endless delight and happiness.
Visitation for Emily will be on December 20, 2024, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, with the funeral service on December 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Manhattan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan.
