Dorothy A. Armbruster | O'Neil Funeral Home And Heritage Crematory - Lockport

Lockport - Dorothy A. Armbruster, 81, known as Dorothy Gallagher, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Born on May 21, 1943, in Evergreen Park, IL, she was the daughter of the late Robert Anthony Gallagher and Dorothy Gertrude Gallagher. Dorothy's educational journey included time as an Adrian Michigan Dominican sister, receiving her BA from Sienna College, and teaching in Detroit schools. She later achieved a master's degree in education from Loyola University before teaching at schools in South Holland and Homewood, IL. An accomplished baker, she crafted many beautiful wedding cakes throughout her life.

In 1975, she married James Armbruster and had a daughter, Catherine Sheedy. Survived by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, Dermot Sheedy, grandchildren Colin and Nora Sheedy, brothers Robert (late Shirley) and Michael Gallagher, sister Patricia (late Martin) Dwyer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.

Prayers will be held at O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 9:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church in Joliet at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Orland Park, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel.
