City of Joliet Stadium Committee met Feb. 21.

ROLL CALL
Present Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, Councilman Joe Clement and Councilwoman Sherri Reardon
ALSO PRESENT: City of Joliet: Christopher Regis - Interim Corporation Counsel, Brent Fraser - Chief Operating Engineer, Blaine Kline - Facilities Manager; Joliet Slammers: Night Train Veeck - Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Heather Mills - Chief Financial Officer.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of Minutes:
Stadium Committee - November 6, 2023
A motion was made by Councilwoman Sherri Reardon, seconded by Councilman Joe Clement, to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2023 Stadium Committee Meeting.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: Councilwoman Ibarra, Councilman Clement and Councilwoman Reardon
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS
SLAMMERS UPDATES
Night Train Veeck, Slammers Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, briefly discussed the hiring new staff, working with corporate partners, and signing the team's new manager Mike Pinto.
Heather Mills, Slammers Chief Financial Officer, briefly highlighted former Slammers' players now in Triple-A (AAA) Minor League Baseball and the 2023 Holiday Open House.
Brent Fraser, City of Joliet Chief Operating Engineer, introduced the City's new Facilities Manager Blaine Kline. Mr. Fraser briefly discussed the deferred maintenance for Slammers Stadium. He also briefly discussed 2024 capital money.
Mr. Veeck highlighted his conversation with Mayor D'Arcy and expressed their desire to be the best team in the league.
Councilwoman Reardon expressed her excitement for what is being proposed for the Slammers.
At the request of Councilman Clement, Mr. Fraser reviewed the list of top projects needed at the Stadium. Chris Regis, Interim Corporation Counsel, briefly discussed updates to the viaduct located outside of the Stadium.
A brief discussion was held regarding future meetings for the Stadium Committee.
The Stadium Committee Members expressed their support for additional funding needed to make necessary repairs to the Stadium. A brief discussion was held regarding the cost and ability to get some of the projects completed before the Slammers 2024 season begins.
