City of Joliet Diversity & Community Relations Committee met June 14.

ROLL CALL

Present

Councilman Cesar Guerrero, Councilman Joe Clement and Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, seconded by Councilman Joe Clement, to approve Diversity & Community Relations Committee Minutes--May 22, 2023. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilman Guerrero, Councilman Clement and Councilwoman Ibarra

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

None.

This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding agenda items and are allowed a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff, and the Committee members do not generally respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures; please note, speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak.

CDBG PY2023 ALLOCATIONS

Ms. McNichol gave a PowerPoint presentation to the Committee regarding the CDBG PY2023 Allocations process.

Ms. McNichol answered the Committee members questions.

It was requested to have a breakdown of where the $155,000 for CDBG Administration will go.

Councilman Clement suggested that the members have input in the future about what organizations they would like to benefit from the allocations.

A motion was made by Councilman Joe Clement, seconded by Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, to recommend for approval by the City Council the CDBG PY2023 Allocations. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilman Guerrero, Councilman Clement and Councilwoman Ibarra

NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION

Councilwoman Ibarra requested the pride flag be flown by the City of Joliet.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Mr. Jeff Gregory, 2609 Mason Avenue, stated he would like Joliet to fly the pride flag especially since the County and the Township fly it.
