Q3 2022 Recap: 7 parolees from Will County convicted of homicide set for release

There were seven offenders convicted of homicide living in Will County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 42. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 1995.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Arthur L. Mitchell. He was convicted in 1995 when he was 33 years old. He is now 60.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
