Q2 2022 Recap: 4 parolees from Will County convicted of homicide set for release

There were four offenders convicted of homicide living in Will County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows three men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 53. The youngest parolee was a 40-year-old man sentenced in 2002, and the oldest was a 77-year-old woman sentenced in 2003.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Richard Makowski. He was convicted in 1993 when he was 32 years old. He is now 63.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
