City of Joliet Arts Commission - Funding Subcommittee met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the cubcommittee:

1. ROLL CALL

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

3. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

None.

This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding agenda items and are allowed a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff, and the Commission members do not generally respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures; please note, speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak.

4. FUTURE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES TO FOCUS ON IN 2022

a. Art Walk

The subcommittee discussed the goals and plans that have come into place as far as outreach and getting together information to share to local artists, musicians, and businesses. The subcommittee discussed the importance of communication and who we need to send information to for sharing of the calls for to local artists, musicians, and businesses, sponsorships, and the event. The subcommittee discussed the logistics of how the walk will go, businesses and considerations of the needs and space of the artists and musicians within so many different spaces/locations. The subcommittee discussed the importance of delegating the work to everyone in supporting and helping with this event.

5. REVIEW TIMELINE FOR FUTURE ITEMS

a. Planning for Future Subcommittee Meetings

The subcommittee discussed having the next meeting take place on Monday August 22nd at 4:30 p.m.

b. Goals and Items that can be Worked on Before Next Meeting

The subcommittee discussed thinking about what will we do or cut if there isn’t enough sponsorships. The subcommittee discussed thinking about a variety of businesses that can take part in the Art Walk, but to keep in mind the logistics of the space/location. The subcommittee discussed what will be presented to the Whole Arts Commission.

6. OLD BUSINESS OR NEW BUSINESS NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION

The subcommittee discussed checking in about details of The Our Town Grant
