D. 202 HS artists do well at 5th Lewis University art show

Plainfield – Three District 202 high school students won the top spots and two more won special recognitions in Lewis University’s fifth annual High School Art Invitational. 
The five are among 19 District 202 students who competed in the contest. Works from all 19 will be exhibited January at Lewis University through January 14, 2022, in the Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery.

The Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery is in theOremus Fine Arts Center off University Drive North on the Lewis University Romeoville campus, One University Parkway. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., closed on holidays and during spring break.

Plainfield East High School senior Adam Jackson won “Best in Show” for the photograph titled Absence.

Plainfield High School - Central Campus junior Emily Guardado won First Place for a drawing titled Las Mujeres De Le Mañana.

Plainfield North High School senior Scarlette Conners won Second Place for a drawing titled Orchidaceae,

The exhibit comprises 36 pieces of artwork in various mediums including mixed media, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, etching, and digital illustration.

The District 202 students chosen to exhibit include:

Plainfield High School – Central Campus

·         Elisabeth Ebersole, junior, pen on paper, “Marilyn”

·         Emily Guardado, junior, photoshop, wacom drawing tablet and stylus, “Las Mujeres De La Mañana,” First Place

·         Veronika Legler, junior, photoshop and wacom drawing tablet with stylus, “Cats and Lilacs”

 

Plainfield South High School

·         Grace Clarke, senior, earthenware clay and glaze, “I See What You Did There”

·         Allaya Foster, junior, scratch board, “Cat”

·         Tierney Quinn Mika, sophomore, earthenware and glaze, “Mother Earth”

·         Tania Rocha, senior, scratch board, “Frog” Honorable Mention

·         Liliana Santiago, freshman, acrylic paint, “Untitled”

·         Alyse Slawinski, senior, digital illustration via adobe procreate/iPad, “China Virus (Diptych)”

 

Plainfield North High School

·         Waverly Cayo, senior, graphite, acrylics, spray paint, newspaper, “Panic 16”

·         Scarlette Conners, senior, prisma colored pencils, “Orchidaceae,” Second Place

·         Guste Rutkauskas, sophomore, graphite, charcoal, “Untitled (My Cat’s Birthday)”

·         Emily Scofield, junior, acrylics, “Untitled (Portrait of Dad)”

·         Carlie Piersma, senior, copy paper (collage), color pencil, oil pastel, white gel pen, “Untitled (Clarinet)”

 

Plainfield East High School

·         Kendall Haupt, senior, acrylic, “Favorites”

·         Adam Jackson, senior, photography, “Absence,” Best in Show

·         Olivia Jones, sophomore, ink and graphite, “Untitled”

·         Grace Wenerski, senior, digital photography with alterations in photoshop, “Ride of Mystique”

·         Briana Zarazua, senior, digital illustration, “Deserted,” Honorable Mention
