Reading

Plainfield School District 202 issued the following announcement on Sept. 28

District 202 in Plainfield, Joliet Junior College and the Plainfield Public Library will co-host a special event to promote family literacy on Friday, October 1, 2021, featuring nationally-renowned “story performer” Chris Fascione.

District 202 families who enrolled in the family literacy program have been invited to this event. It will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Village Green Park in downtown Plainfield.

The event will include food, gifts, books, crafts for parents and children to do together, and take-home activities, designed to promote parents and children reading together.

Fascione “acts out the best of classical and contemporary children’s literature and folktales in fun-filled, participatory shows tailored for specific age groups or family audiences,” according to his website.

“His unique combination of storytelling, mime, juggling and comedy creates colorful characters from literature who tell their stories as laughter abounds,” the website says.
