Village of Romeoville Village Board Met May 5.

Resident Dwight Bendel explained that a trailer has been parked in a handicap parking spot at a local business for many months and that it should be removed to allow for handicap patrons to park there. He also expressed his concern for the snow that builds up on the top of semi-trucks and to consider requiring logistic companies to have snow removal machines so snow does not fly off onto the windshields of other drivers. Mr. Bendel also expressed that he would like the board to reevaluate the odd and even parking ordinance and to mandate it all year round and not only when it snows.

5. MAYOR'S REPORT
The Mayor designated May 9th-16th, 2021 as National Police Week.

Mayor Noak thanked his family for coming to support him at the meeting and to Judge Gomora for swearing in the newly elected officials.
Congratulations to Bernice Holloway, Joe Chavez, Brian Clancy, and Dave Richards on their re-election and to everyone within Will County who will be sworn in within the next few weeks. Thank you to the Real Estate Journal who had the Mayor speak at a hybrid conference last week. Thank you to everyone who worked and volunteered at the vaccination clinic at the Rec Center. A lot of local places are taking walk-ins so if you haven't gotten your vaccine the availability is up to go and do so. Thank you to the Red Cross for utilizing our Rec Center as a location to donate blood. The Mayor expressed that he will be visiting Senior Star tomorrow and will be speaking at their resident town hall meeting. Spring Clean Up Week is May 10th- 14th for our residents. The new Waste Management benefits have started and some residents pick up days have changed, but mailers have been set out to those homes affected by this adjustment. The Police Awards ceremony is coming up and the Mayor mentioned that it will be an honor to be a part of that.
To the public comments, the trailer is being removed and the Mayor wanted to thank VNA for being a federally funded facility and for their efforts with our ESL residents and providing services to those who need it most.

Mrs. Caldwell thanked the entire staff for their work throughout this past year. Each staff member has dedication and a passion for their job and they have done amazing work coming together to support our community with their new ideas and innovation throughout the pandemic.

Trustee Chavez
The Youth Outreach Commission in conjunction with the Romeoville Police Youth Athletic Club is offering a free youth mentoring basketball program
from June 9th- July 14th. You can register at the Romeoville Recreation Department. The FOP is hosting a fishing derby and the last day to register is May 10th. Based on the agenda, there is a lot of great things happening in our community such as adding LED lights to our facilities, the Pinnacle Drive extension, adding additional exterior cameras, Crate & Barrel, and the efforts from the Village to add a Frontage Road to Weber Road to help support the businesses in that corridor. Thank you to the Will County Health Department and our Fire Department for all their work with the vaccination clinic. It is amazing that we can offer vaccines to home-bound residents.
Congratulations to the Mayor, Clerk, and the fellow Trustees who were sworn in today. It is a pleasure and honor to serve with you all.

This is the first time our municipality has recognized all three of these departments at the same time. These departments play a huge role in our
community and how we all live our lives.
Trustee Clancy
The Recreation Department has their summer brochure on the website and they have been delivered to each home. Nickel Bingo has resumed at our Rec. Dept. The Village will host their Community Garage Sale on May 8th.
Congratulations to the Mayor and Trustees and thank you to Judge Gomora for coming. There are more kids out riding bikes so please keep an eye out on the roads. Thank you to our Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department, and our Recreation Department. You all do a tremendous job.
Trustee Richards
Thank you to our Police, Fire, Recreation, and Public Works Department for all their work. Your water runs in your home because of the efforts of our Public Works Department. You are truly the unsung heroes. The Public Works Open House is coming up on Saturday, May 22nd. Come out to see the new facility. Thank you and congratulations to the Mayor, Clerk Holloway, and fellow Trustees. I am proud and honored to be serving this community again for another four years.
