City of Crest Hill issued the following announcement on Aug. 30
To help relieve the mosquito infestation and abate frequent mosquito breeding the City has contracted with Clarke to help manage mosquito habitat. Clarke is a national recognized expert in mosquito control and performs periodic spraying for mosquito abatement throughout the city.
Residents wishing to learn more about mosquito treatment may call the Clarke Mosquito Hot Line at 800-942-2555. Residents can also register for future mosquito spraying alerts from Clarke by dialing that number or by registering at https://www.clarkeportal.com/
The City recognizes that mosquito infestation can be a public health issue and has taken a proactive approach to help eliminate nuisance and disease-carrying mosquitos in the community. Mosquitos can carry West Nile and the Zika virus among other things. Clarke uses only Organic Materials in controlling mosquitos that are not harmful to the environment and rigorously complies with EPA standards.
Residents can do their part in reducing mosquito-breeding habitats by removing any stagnant water sources such as:
- Bird baths
- Old tires
- Down spout drains
- Pools (kiddy or abandoned)
- Pet drinking bowls
