The Will County Republican Central Committee is inviting the public to attend its monthly meeting scheduled for July 15 at Gatto’s Restaurant in New Lenox.
With the meeting kicking off at 7 p.m., the public also has the option of attending by Zoom. The Zoom I.D. number and code will be posted on the WCRCC calendar by the day of the meeting.
The Will County Republican Party in February moved to censure the actions of Congressman Adam Kinzinger, the six-term Republican from Channahon who serves in the 16th District.
"Rep. Kinzinger's feelings about former President Donald J. Trump are well known,” the Will County GOP said. “We witnessed the support and then subsequent bashing of President Trump, after he refused to appoint Kinzinger as the Secretary of the Air Force. The last straw was Kinzinger's unconstitutional impeachment support against Donald Trump that quickly escalated to attacks on other duly elected Republicans in the Senate and Trump supporters.”
The group argues Kinzinger’s actions in launching his Political Action Committee (PAC) are an affront to the voters across the country who supported Trump.
“He disregarded other elected Republican voters' wishes across the United States in furtherance," the group added.
The Will County GOP overwhelmingly voted 111 to 5 to censure Kinzinger.
"Our censure is a formal rebuke against his unilateral actions to raise money and attack over 74 million Americans and their elected Republican officials who supported Trump's take-action and broker no BS attitude from the D.C. swamp,” the group said. “Our censure also states that we will work hard in the primary to elect a Representative for the People, by the People.”
The Will County GOP hinted they believe Kinzinger's actions have been "selfish and self-centered” and done in the hope of propelling him to a higher office such as the U.S. Senate.
"It has never been about representing the people of Illinois nor the 16th; it is all about Kinzinger,” the group said.
Patch recently reported that Kinzinger's own family members signed off on a letter blasting him as “a disappointment to God.”
