Crete Fire District responded to 148 calls in 2018 - 38.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Crete included 23 fires - 15 structure fires, two vehicle fires and six other fires.

In all, the department saw $1,327,500 in fire loss - or about $57,717 per fire.

The department also received 125 false calls, including two malicious calls and 123 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Crete Fire District had an annual budget of $1,929,181 in 2018.
