City of Joliet Arts Commission met January 15

City of Joliet Arts Commission met Jan. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

1. ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Roxiana Fuqua, Eric Groder, Brett Marcum, Val Devine, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson, Peg Stoiber, Deborah Summers.

ABSENT: Lauren Las, Crystal Malone, Jennifer Moore, Dr. Theresa Rouse.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

a. December 18, 2019

Motion to approve the December 18, 2019 meeting minutes was made by Lori Carmine.

Motion seconded by Eryn Blaser. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Roxiana Fuqua, Eric Groder, Brett Marcum, Val Devine, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson, Peg Stoiber, Deborah Summers. 

NAYS: None.

3. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

None.

4. OLD BUSINESS

a. Vision 2020 Committee Report

Chairman Dorris gave an overview of the Committee meeting and asked the Commission to generate ideas for goals in five specific areas that would ultimately create the goals and recommendations for the Commission for 2020.

b. Review Calendar submitted by Commission Secretary

Commissioners were asked to input an event in the Google Calendar sent by Megan Millen as a means of testing the system.

5. NEW BUSINESS

a. Discussion: Vision 2020 Committee Report

b. For Action: Appointment of At-Large member of Vision 2020 Committee

Motion to appoint Sue Regis as the fourth member of the Vision 2020 committee was made by Lori Carmine.

Motion seconded by Eryn Blaser. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Roxiana Fuqua, Eric Groder, Brett Marcum, Val Devine, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson, Peg Stoiber, Deborah Summers. 

NAYS: None.

c. Discussion: Timeline to recommendations to the city council

Commissioners were asked to gauge their level of commitment over the next four months pertaining to committee and commission involvement.

d. For Action: Creation of Subcommittees based on Vision 2020 Committee report

Motion to table creation of additional committees for future meeting was made by Megan Millen.

Motion seconded by Lori Carmine. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Roxiana Fuqua, Eric Groder, Brett Marcum, Val Devine, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson, Peg Stoiber, Deborah Summers. 

NAYS: None.

e. For Action: Appointment of Chairperson(s) for newly created subcommittees

Motion to table appointment of chairpersons for subcommittees for future meeting was made by Lori Carmine.

Motion seconded by Peg Stoiber. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Quinn Adamowski, Eryn Blaser, Lori Carmine, Erick Deshaun Dorris, Roxiana Fuqua, Eric Groder, Brett Marcum, Val Devine, Megan Millen, Sue Regis, John Simpson, Peg Stoiber, Deborah Summers. 

NAYS: None.

6. OLD/NEW BUSINESS NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION

Motion to adjourn was made by Val Devine.
