City of Joliet Public Safety Committee met December 3

City of Joliet Public Safety Committee met Dec. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Roll Call

PRESENT: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug.

ABSENT: None.

ALSO PRESENT: Interim City Manager Steve Jones, Police Chief Alan Roechner, Deputy Chief Marc Reid, Deputy Chief Michael Batis, CIO Dave Braner.

2. Approval of Minutes - November 19, 2019

Motion to approve the Minutes from November 19, 2019 was made by Councilman Larry E. Hug.

Motion seconded by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug.

NAYS: None.

3. Citizens to be Heard on Agenda Items:

4. Body Cams Police Department

There was a discussion regarding Body Cameras and Police Car Cameras.

Dave Braner discussed the technology upgrades needed for the completion of this project

5. Police Car Cameras

6. Public Comments:

None.

7. NEW or OLD BUSINESS, not for final action or recommendation

Councilman Larry Hug asked what will happen once the Body Cameras and Police Car Cameras Project is completed.

Dave Braner gave a brief overview of Microsoft's Government Cloud storage and briefly discussed Verizon's plans to expand the network by putting up additional towers.

A brief discussion has held regarding call drop. A study was done sensing the signal on all streets of the city and a map was produced showing exactly where the deficiencies are.

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion seconded by Councilman Larry E. Hug.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug.

NAYS: None.

Meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
