Village of Romeoville Village Board met Dec. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. CALL TO ORDER-Roll Call

Present 7 - Trustee Jose Chavez, Trustee Dave Richards, Trustee Brian A. Clancy Sr., Mayor John Noak, Trustee Lourdes Aguirre, Trustee Linda Palmiter, and Trustee Ken Griffin

2. POSTING OF COLORS-PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Chris Braasch thanked the people of Romeoville for all of the support they received for Harvest Saturday. They collected over 20,000 lbs of food utilizing over 400 volunteers. It was an amazing day.

19-2688 Citizen's Police Academy Graduation

The Citizen's Police Academy graduates were recognized.

ORD19-1605 An Ordinance for the Levying and Collection of Taxes for the Village of Romeoville, Will County, Illinois, for the Fiscal Year Commencing the First Day of May, 2019 and Ending the 30th Day of April 2020.

The next two items will be presented together. Mayor Noak stated that as always the Village sets the levy high as we work on a May to May budget and this allows us to make adjustments prior to the passing of the final budget. We have been doing this for a number of years. We are just getting through mid-year of the previous budget.

Mr Openchowski stated that we will have a public hearing during the regular meeting. The levy will be very close to what it was the prior year. Based on information from the County our EAV will increase approximately 3.63%.

Also, on the consent agenda there are 8 ordinances to abate the bond payments to remove them from the property tax rolls as there are other revenue streams to pay for these payments.

ORD19-1607 An Ordinance establishing maximum tax rates for the Village of

Romeoville and authorizing the Village Manager and Finance Director to make the appropriate adjustments and abatements to the 2019 tax levy for the Village of Romeoville, Will County, Illinois

RES19-2820 A Resolution Authorizing the credit of $5.00 on the January 2020 residential water and sewer bills of Village of Romeoville Residents

Mr Openchowski reported that the authorizes a $5.00 water bill credit. This credit will be reflected on the January, 2020 water bills. The aggregated amount of relief to be provided to residents is approximately $58,000. This is the 9th year that the Village has been able to provide a credit.

4. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Aguirre, that this Meeting be Adjourned at 6:22 p.m. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: 6 - Trustee Chavez, Trustee Richards, Trustee Clancy, Trustee Aguirre, Trustee Palmiter, and Trustee Griffin
