City of Braidwood City Council met Nov. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on November 26rd, 2019 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Jones in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.

Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Jones requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered

“Here” or “Present”;

Elected Officials;

Present: Commissioner Saltzman, Commissioner Money, Commissioner Smith, Commissioner Hart and Mayor Jones

Absent:

Appointed Officials;

Present: City Attorney Wellner, City Administrator Altiery, Chief Lyons, City Engineer Weber and City Clerk Fisher

Absent:

Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.

Public Comment: Pam Dell’Aquila of the Braidwood Healthy Coalition read a statement reference the use of legalized marijuana, and further referenced an article showing a study that had been in other states that hav already passed Marijuana Laws. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to approve meeting minutes from the November 12th, 2019 Regular Council Meeting. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Smith, Money, Hart and Jones)

Mayor’s Report: Mayor Jones commented on how nice the welcome sign, funded by Exelon, looked at the corner by the High School. He further stated that the City would soon begin to change out street signs to bring them up to code.

Administrator Report: Administrator Altiery stated there were no FOIA’s in the last 2 weeks, and that residency for the City Clerk had been waived by Resolution in 2011. He further commented that he spoke with Mr. Foley about producing a clear title, for the alley, to the City.

City Clerk Report: 

Engineer Report:

City Attorney Report: Attorney Wellner advised that Ordinance templates pertaining to the regulation of marijuana were being worked on and he hoped to be able to get them on the agendy by the new year.

Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Saltzman thanked those that helped with the Christmas decorations, advised that the auditors had been working on accounts for 2 weeks now, and that a suggestion was made that the City propose a levy. Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to approve the Accounts Payable Report in the amount of $89,080.60 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated 11/26/19. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money, and Jones) Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to approve the Payroll Report, in the amount of $143,663.46, as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated 11/26/2019. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Money, Smith, and Jones)

Streets & Public Improvement Report:

Public Property Report: Commissioner Money listed the activities of the City Crews over the last 2 weeks.

Public Health & Safety Report:

Planning & Zoning Report: Next meeting will be held January

Old Business: Commissioner Smith commented on his disapproval of gates being down around a pond and he will put the gates back up.

New Business: Commissioner Money prop having a Christmas lighting contest for residents to participate in from December 1st through December 15th, 2019.

Adjournment: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to adjourn the November 26th, 2019, regular meeting of the Braidwood City Council. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Smith, Hart, Money and Jones)
