Discussion among the Council ensued regarding replacement of parkway trees. Residents need to contact the City to request parkway trees. Trees were removed at the City’s expense; replacement of trees requires residents to request the tree. Many residents to not want to replace parkway trees. The list of parkway tree replacements has been completed; all requests have been fulfilled.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Lockport Heights sewer project costs which include plastic pipe. The City Code does not allow or maintain plastic pipe. Discussion of funding an upcharge to bring the sewer materials up to code, for copper pipe. The City engineering department does not have resources available to support plastic pipe installations. Lockport Heights is a separate sanitary district; City of Lockport has an agreement with Lockport Heights that will expire in 2030. With the current agreement, the City of Lockport’s obligation is to maintain the Lockport Heights water/sewer infrastructure. The City Code requires ductal pipe and copper services and requires Lockport Heights to build to the City’s spec.
