CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Fleischer called the Regular Session of the Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Board of Trustees and members of the audience recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL/ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM
Deputy Clerk Frieling called the roll and the following Trustees were present:

DISCOVER MOKENA
Cheryl Collins expressed her appreciation to the Board for the new landscaping on Front Street. She then presented information on Curtain Call Theatre’s upcoming productions of Little Shop of Horrors and Arsenic and Old Lace.
Debi Blank presented information on Mokena Miracles trivia night fundraiser. They are also seeking nominations for Mokena families in need for the 2019 holiday season.
COMMUNITY CALENDAR
Deputy Clerk Frieling presented the Community Calendar.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jim Schlegel thanked the Board for the landscape improvements on Front Street. He requested that the landscaping project be extended from Mokena Street to Division Street. He stated that St. Mary’s is hosting a community service day on October 5th. They plan to clean the gutters along Front Street. He stated that everyone is welcome to help.
CONSENT AGENDA
Village Administrator John Tomasoski presented three (3) items on the Consent Agenda for Board approval. These items are strictly administrative in nature.
a. Motion to grant approval to Boy Scout Troop #40 to conduct door-to-door ticket sales for its 29th annual spaghetti dinner throughout the Village of Mokena from September
10 through October 26, 2019.
b. Motion to approve minutes from the August 19, 2019 Work Session.
c. Motion to approve minutes from the August 26, 2019 Board Meeting.

FINANCE REPORT
Finance Director Barb Damron presented the accounts payable list for September totaling $953,737.32. She highlighted the following invoice to be paid.

Trustee Engler made a motion to approve the monthly accounts payable in the amount of $953,737.32. Trustee Metanias seconded.

PRESENTATIONS/APPOINTMENTS/PROCLAMATIONS
Deputy Clerk Frieling read a proclamation for Chamber of Commerce Week.
Melissa Fedora thanked the Village for the proclamation and introduced Michelle DePaolis, Chamber President. Ms. Fedora invited everyone to the Chamber’s ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday. She also stated that they are a resource for residents and encouraged everyone to utilize their services.
Mayor Fleischer stated he appreciates the Chamber’s move to Front Street.
Deputy Clerk Frieling read a proclamation for Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Foundation’s 25 year anniversary.
Kim Juracek, President of the Lincoln-Way Foundation, thanked the Board for the proclamation. She highlighted how Foundation donations have been distributed this year and spoke about current and upcoming fundraising events.

OLD BUSINESS
VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS
Village Administrator Tomasoski requested Community/Economic Development Director Alan Zordan update the Board on development and business activities. Mr. Zordan provided an update on pending development projects, new businesses and highlighted businesses offering Fall landscaping services.
Village Administrator Tomasoski reminded everyone that school is back in session and requested that motorists drive safely and be aware of pedestrians.
TRUSTEE’S COMMENTS
Trustee Budzyn spoke about the dedication of the Charles Denny plaque. He thanked staff for coordinating the event. He encouraged everyone to support the Boy Scouts and attend the spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Trustee Budzyn spoke at length about 9/11 and encouraged everyone to remember those who lost their lives that day. He also requested that residents show their support and fly the flag on Wednesday, September 11th.
Trustee Metanias agreed with Trustee Budzyn’s comments concerning 9/11.
Trustee Richmond thanked Trustee Budzyn for his comments and thanked the men and women that serve our country. He provided information on a recycling event being offered by Will County. He attended the ceremony for Charles Denny and commented on the speech made by Major General Mark W. Anderson (retired). He requested that when you see servicemen or servicewomen to thank them for serving our country. He requested that the Board discuss maintenance of Pioneer Cemetery at an upcoming meeting.
Trustee Engler also attended the ceremony at Pioneer Cemetery. She spoke about a fundraiser recently held at Tribes for the 100 Club.

MAYOR’S COMMENTS
Mayor Fleischer congratulated Lorenz Appliance for being named Dealer of the Year. Mayor Fleischer spoke about the ceremony at Pioneer Cemetery. He thanked Dave Zima and the Womens Club for helping to maintain the property over the years. He expressed his appreciation to the Public Works Department for their efforts to maintain the property. He also thanked the speakers at the ceremony for their comments.
