Village of Plainfield Committee of the Whole met May 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Mayor Collins called the meeting to order at 7: 00 p.m. Board Present: Mayor Collins, Trustee Benton, Trustee Bonuchi, Trustee Calkins, Trustee Larson, Trustee Newton, and Trustee Wojowski. Others present: Brian Murphy, Administrator; Jon Proulx, Planning Director; Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Ken Goska, Building Official; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. There were approximately 35 persons in the audience.

Trustee Bonuchi moved to approve the Minutes of Committee of the Whole Workshop held on April 22, 2019. Second by Trustee Larson. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried. Motion carried.

PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS 

Mayor Collins proclaimed May 2019 as Historic Preservation Month.

TRUSTEE COMMENTS 

Trustee Bonuchi informed everyone of the high school graduations this weekend and encouraged everyone to plan accordingly for the traffic.

WORKSHOP 

1) HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION PRESENTATION 

Mr. Jon Proulx, Planning Director, introduced the members of the Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Michael Bortel, Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission gave a presentation highlighting the current project at 15233 S. Joliet Street. Mr. Bortel then reviewed the properties designated as historic properties. Mr. Bortel highlighted the Downtown Plainfield Historic District and the National Register Designation for downtown, and the East Side Historic District.

Mr. Bortel presented the 2019 Historic Preservation Awards:

- 2019 Rehabilitation of the Year— 23837 W. Ottawa Street. 

- 2019 Architectural Details— 24136 W. Lockport Street. 

- 2019 Architectural Compatibility—24210 W. Lockport Street. 

- 2019 Streetscape of the Year— Downtown Planters, Village of Plainfield.

Mr. Bortel presented plaques for the newly designated landmarks at Plymouth Congregational Church and 14930 S. Illinois Street.

Mr. Bortel reviewed coming attractions including 15134 S. Fox River Street; 241236 W. Chicago Street; 15135 S. Des Plaines Street; and, 15124 S. Route 59.

Mayor Collins thanked the Historic Preservation for the presentation and read the reminders.

On a motion from Trustee Bonuchi and second by Trustee Larson, the meeting adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
