J. COMMENTS BY COMMISSIONERS

Commissioner Ventura asked Chief Operating Officer Schultz for more clarification of Resolution No. 19-07. Schultz explained:

The Lower DuPage River Watershed Coalition (LDRWC) was formed in 2012 to improve water quality and recreational amenities. Since the Lower DuPage River is considered impaired, it is important to stop the degradation within the watershed through several recommended projects, including the Hammel Woods Dam Modification or Removal Project. Removal of the Hammel Woods Dam removes the potential safety hazards by completely removing the grade portions of the dam and includes a riffle and boulder features to enhance aquatic habitat and subsequent river health.
