2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Aurora?

There were 217 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in Aurora zip codes, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Will County Gazette.

The data shows that 181 men and 36 women were released in Aurora. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 36. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2017, and the oldest was a 67-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Bessie Rowlen. She was convicted of homicide in 1990 when he was 24 years old. She is now 52.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in 2018.
