The price of local government in 2017: Village of Crete

The Village of Crete budget was $16.32 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $3,475 per household.

That's an increase of five percent from 2016, when the village spent $15.55 million, or $3,310 per household.

Crete has 4,697 households and a population of 8,259.

Since 2001, the Village of Crete budget has grown by 24.2 percent, from $13.14 million. The village population has grown 12.4 percent over the same period, from 7,346.

Salaries accounted for 23.1 percent of village spending in 2017. Crete property taxpayers paid $3.77 million for 36 full-time employees and 35 part-time employees.
