The price of local government in 2016: Village of Rockdale

The Village of Rockdale budget was $3.23 million for its 2016 fiscal year, or $5,918 per household.

That's a decrease of 4.2 percent from 2015, when the village spent $3.36 million, or $6,174 per household.

Rockdale has 545 households and a population of 1,957.

Since 2001, the Village of Rockdale budget has fallen by 23.8 percent, from $4.23 million. The village population has grown 3.7 percent over the same period, from 1,888.

Salaries accounted for 21.1 percent of village spending in 2016. Rockdale property taxpayers paid $680,585 for nine full-time employees and 11 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had nine full-time employees and four part-time employees, and spent $541,528.
