Will County Land Use and Development Committee met Nov. 7.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order

Vasko called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M.

3. Approval of Agenda

Panozzo moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Seggebruch seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

4. Approval of October 10, 2018 Minutes

Kiefner moved that the minutes be approved as presented. McCollum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

5. Public Comments

No Public Comments.

6. Chairman’s Report

Chairwoman Vasko discussed the recent vandalism at the Heritage Village in Lockport. Vasko stated that there were two individuals responsible for the damage, one which has already turned himself in and one which is supposed to be turning himself into authorities soon.

7. Staff’s Report

Farrell asked for suggestions for the location of the December holiday meeting. The Commission was directed to provide suggestions via email to her by the following Wednesday.

Farrell stated the County Board Proclamation to Seggebruch’s daughter for designing the logo is tentatively scheduled for the December 20, 2018 meeting. Seggebruch stated that his daughter had a dentist appointment and would not attend. He requested a letter sent to her instead.

Farrell visited Lewis University to review some documents deposited there by former Commissioner, John Lamb, which dealt with Commission business. Farrell mentioned that there is a desire by the University to restore the former horse stables at the Fitzpatrick House, a Will County Landmark.

Annual Meeting Agenda

1. Commissioner Reappointments/Appointments

Farrell stated that both Commissioners Galik and Nagel will need to be re-appointed to the Commission. Farrell noted that staff in the County Executive’s Office will be sending them an email as what they will need to do to express their interest in reappointment. She also stated that Catherine Boo is up for reappointment, but since she has not been in attendance for the last year of Commission meetings, she will not be actively solicited for reappointment. The Commission will need to obtain two members, preferably from different areas of Will County, and one of them will need to be a lawyer. It was noted that Curt Paddock, former director of Will County Land Use Department, had shown interest in being considered for one of the vacant seats.

2. Bylaws Review

The Commission amended Article III, Section 1, Letter G to state “each Commission member shall attend at least one educational event per calendar year subject to appropriations.” The amended by-laws will be voted upon at the December meeting.

3. Ordinance Updates – The Commission did not have any amendments.

4. Set 2019 Meeting Dates

Vasko requested that the meeting slated for July 3, 2019 be changed to July 10, 2019. Nagel made a motion to amend the proposed 2019 dates and Panozzo seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The amended 2019 dates will be voted upon at the December meeting.

5. Fiscal Year End/IHPA Annual Report Review – The Commission had no comments.

10. Commissioner Discussion

Seggebruch brought with him the beginnings of information for Christie Holsten of the Monee Historical Society to process the landmark nomination of the St. Paul cemetery. Seggebruch has researched his family’s history as well as other families who are buried there. Holsten will be assisted by Rachel White and Ann Nagel to get the project done.

Nagel is working on the history of the Black Walnut one room school house nomination.

11. Announcements

Vasko announced that the Will County Historical Museum and Research Center’s annual benefit dinner will be on November 11, 2018 at the Public Landing restaurant in Lockport, with a viewing of the Lincoln rose beforehand. Larry McClellan will be speaking at the dinner.

On December 1, 2018, there will be a book signing at the Will County Historical Museum and Research Center featuring Commissioner Galik who will be signing copies of his latest book, a murder mystery.

12. Adjournment

Galik moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seggebruch seconded the motion which passed unanimously at 7:52 P.M. The next meeting will be December 5, 2018.
