Lockport State House candidate Stephanie Kifowit received another $1,109 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, according to state filings.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Stephanie Kifowit, the campaign committee that supports Kifowit’s race against Republican Patty Smith in the 84th district.
The district covers all or part of the Metro Chicago Area, Aurora, Naperville, Aurora, Naperville, Oswego, Wheatland, Boulder Hill, Montgomery, and Oswego.
Madigan’s contributions to Kifowit came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $733,871 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
