Chief Operating Officer Schultz discussed the issues with the asphalt at Plum Valley Preserve Burville Road after the initial installation. This change order outlines the remediation and responsibilities required to fully reconstruct the parking lot.

6. Permission to Bid Forest Preserve Police Station Security and ADA Enhancements

Chief Operating Officer Schultz explained that the recent audit completed by the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) on the Forest Preserve Police Department Facility resulted in the recommendation to have install a solid bullet resistant interior door and a bullet resistant pay window in the entry vestibule. This project includes that work along with a few alternatives for additional improvements.

H. REPORTS

1. Forest Preserve Agricultural Program Report

Chief Operating Officer Schultz discussed the Forest Preserve's land management operations which can be broken down into (5) five categories:

 Access Areas/Trails - 2%

 Managed Natural Areas - 29%

 Agriculture - 15%

 Managed Hay Area - 4%

 Unmanaged Open Space - 50%

Schultz also discussed agricultural land conversion of (3) three Forest Preserves:

 Hadley Valley Preserve - 636 acres

 Messenger Woods Nature Preserve - 99 acres

 Vermont Cemetery Preserve - 23 acres

Continuing with the Forest Preserve’s mission, the use of agriculture allows the Forest Preserve to hold property in a condition suitable for future restoration and development. There are currently more than 1,300 additional acres planned for restoration in the near future at six different preserves as part of the agriculture and restoration program.

These Restoration Sites:

 Kankakee Sand Preserve

 Sand Ridge Savanna

 Thorn Creek Headwaters

 River Farmstead

 Forked Creek Preserve

 Prairie Bluff Preserve

J. COMMENTS BY COMMISSIONERS

Commissioner Dollinger commended the Forest Preserve District staff on a successful first Food Truck Friday at Hammel Woods Forest Preserve on June 1, 2018. Chief Operating Schultz commented that this was our most attended food truck event with over 1300 attendees.
