Channahon Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 28.
The Channahon Police Department will host its 8th Citizens Police Academy.
The Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week program, starting September 5th, 2018 and meets every Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm until November 21st, 2018.
The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to provide the community with the opportunity to learn more about its police department and further develop the relationship between the police and the community.
Most classes are a “hands-on” experience and topics include traffic law, criminal law, evidence, firearms and defensive tactics. Participants are given the opportunity to go on a ride-along with a patrol officer.
Officer Blough and Detective Sergeant Brooks will be coordinating the academy. If you would like to register, pick up an application at the Channahon Police Department, 24555 S. Navajo Dr., Channahon, IL.
If you have questions or need additional information, call (815) 467-5152 or e-mail Officer Blough at jblough@channahon.org
