Elwood Fire Protection District responded to 122 calls in 2017 - 36.1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Elwood included 13 fires - four structure fires, four vehicle fires and five other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $85,001 in fire loss - or about $6,539 per fire.

The department also received 108 false calls, including one malicious call and 107 other false calls.

The Elwood Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $4,476,937 in 2017.
