H. Reports

1. Forest Preserve District Agricultural Program

Director of Planning and Development Andrew Hawkins presented the Forest Preserve District Agricultural Program to the Committee members.

The Forest Preserve currently has 3,250 acres enrolled in its Agricultural Program. The properties account for roughly 15% of our holdings and generate approximately $680,000 in revenue annually (2017).

The 2019 cycle will establish a staggered license schedule to reduce fluctuations in revenue based on commodity values and it will also include the Forest Preserve's six (6) year licenses to implement a cover crop pilot program at Fiddyment Creek and administer large scale field improvements at Huyck's Grove Preserve.

Commissioner Moustis inquired about the acres used for agriculture and at some point restoring this land. Moustis noted it is not the intent for the Forest Preserve to be in the agricultural business long term and requested staff prepare a plan to phase out agricultural use.

2. Vehicle Replacement Program Update - March 2018

Chief Operating Officer Schultz reviewed the current Vehicle Replacement Program (VRP) and additional information regarding the fleet inventory.

3. 2018 Kankakee Sands Area Preserves Ornate Box Turtle Survey

Chief Operating Officer Schultz informed the Committee that we will not be returning with a recommendation or proceeding with the Ornate Box Turtle study at this time. Schultz explained staff found neither firm was able to fulfill the Scope of Services adequately within the allotted budget of $60,000.
