Analysis: Joliet pays $5.26 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Joliet Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.9 percent of the $17,356,183 the Joliet Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.26 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Joliet contributed $14,559,331 to the fund, which saw a $306,926 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $2,763,589, or 15.9 percent, in 2016. Another $33,263 came from other unspecified sources.
