“WotNow,” the city of Lockport’s new social and civic events tracking app, is up and running for residents with the desire to streamline today’s constant flow of information, simplify their choices and clarify their calendars.

Officials announced Lockport’s partnership with the application via the city’s website recently, explaining that by downloading the free WotNow app from the Apple iTunes or Google Play stores, residents can log in and sign up to follow large numbers of organizations.

“WotNow is rapidly growing with many parents and youth using it to keep track of critical and fun things,” the city stated on its own website.

Event notification will then come directly to users without their having to search the Internet at large. In addition, the application is fully interactive, allowing users to comment, sign up for events and share information with colleagues and friends.

"We have thousands of users who use the app to follow their favorite schools, churches, sports teams, businesses and even volunteer opportunities," WotNow Founder and CEO Deepa Salem said. "We hope to connect society in more meaningful ways, such as by matching youth and adults with volunteer opportunities to enable them to give back with ease."

Lockport Mayor Steve Streit stated that the numerous local venues and groups integrated into the app include the city government and Chamber of Commerce; museum and theater venues; and arts events.
