The village of Mokena Board of Trustees met Dec. 12 to approve daycare occupancy.

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Fleischer called the Board of Trustees Work Session to order at 8:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
The following Trustees were present:
John Mazzorana Jim Richmond Debbie Engler Joseph Siwinski George Metanias Trustee Joseph Budzyn
Also present were the following: Village Administrator John Tomasoski, Assistant Village Administrator Kirk Zoellner; Community/Economic Development Director Alan Zordan, Village Engineer Paul Pearson and Chief of Police, Steve Vaccaro.
Discussion:
Trustee Metanias noted the classroom setting and asked about the curriculum. Mr. Saha explained that this will be for pre-school, daycare, and after school programs for kids up to the 6th grade.
Designer, Chuck Smith, questioned if the Board would allow the turn lane on Townline Road to be installed prior to the second occupancy approval instead of prior to issuance of the second building permit. The Board was not comfortable making the requested change.
The Board consensus was to move forward with the final documentation as presented once the traffic study has been submitted and reviewed by staff.
Nighthawk Veterinary Clinic Community/Economic Development Director Alan Zordan presented this case.
Discussion:
Mayor Fleischer confirmed that there would be no boarding of animals other than the occasional overnight stay related to surgery.
The consensus of the Board was that the proposed Special Use was fine and that it should advance to a formal public hearing with the Planning Commission.
Laraway Communication Center Discussion As the Village’s representative of the Lincolway Dispatch Center, Trustee Budzyn provided the Mayor and Board an update on the current status of the formulation of the Laraway Communications Center. Trustee Budzyn also reviewed with the Mayor and Board the most recent version of the by-laws and intergovernmental agreement for the Laraway Communications Center. The Mayor and Board discussed the option being considered by the G30 group of allowing the Village of Braidwood’s Police Department to become an initial member of the Laraway Communication Center and being able to sign the intergovernmental agreement as soon as it is approved or waiting until the center is operational before they can become a member. The consensus of the Board was to have the Village of Braidwood Police Department wait until the center is operational before they can become a member.
Adjournment There being no further business to bring before the Mayor and Board of Trustees, Mayor Fleischer adjourned the work session at 8:38 p.m.
