The Lewis University women's basketball team was ranked 15th in a recent preseason poll, according to a report on LewisFlyers.com.
The Flyers, who went 28-3 last season, received the ranking in the Women's Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25.
Two Flyers received individual recognition. Senior guard Jamie Johnson and sophomore forward Jessica Kelliher were preseason All-American honorable-mention picks. Johnson was the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Player of the Year and enters the season needing 484 points to become the all-time scoring leader for the program.
Kelliher was the 2016 GLVC Freshman of the Year and became the first freshman to be named first-team All-GLVC since 1999. She was fifth in all of NCAA Division II in field-goal percentage by hitting 60.2 percent of her shots.
Bentley was ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll. Other ranked GLVC teams include Bellarmine at No. 13 and Drury at No. 19.
