For the third-straight week, a North Central College Cardinal was named Athlete of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
NCC men's cross-country runner Dhruvil Patel earned the most-recent honor by finishing fourth out of 185 runners in the 8K race in the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, NorthCentralCardinals.com reports. He crossed the finish line in 25 minutes, 43.4 seconds, which helped top-ranked NCC to second place in the team competition.
Earlier this season, Patel, a sophomore from Skokie, was fifth at the Elmhurst College Early Bird Invitational on Sept. 2. He finished the 6K course in 19:06.8.
In the previous two weeks, NCC's Zach Plank earned the CCIW honor.
The men's team was ranked number one for the second-straight week in the Sept. 21 NCAA Division III Coaches' Poll. The Cardinals received 279 out of 280 points in the poll.
