The Fairmont School District 89 serves Will County and includes Fairmont School within its jurisdiction (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district enrolled 322 students during the 2019-2020 school year and serves grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student population is diverse: about 12.7 percent are White, 38.5 percent Black, and 46 percent Hispanic (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
In terms of staffing, there are thirty teachers in Fairmont School District 89 with an average salary of $47,800 before pension contributions; approximately eighty percent are women (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). None of these teachers had more than ten absences in a school year.
Financially, the district spent $21,521 per student in the year 2020 with total expenditures reaching nearly seven million dollars (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Chronic truancy remains an issue; ninety students were classified as “chronically truant” during the same period—a rate higher than the statewide average (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
