Rialto Square Theatre - Update

Councilman Mudron gave a brief update on the reopening of the Rialto Theatre due to the COVID-19 pandemic, upcoming events, and a grant for capital improvements available to qualified shuttered venue operators.

CITY MANAGER:

The City Manager did not have a report this evening.

NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation):

Councilman Guerrero briefly discussed a storm that came through the area. The City Manager informed the public to report an public right-of-way tree damage to the Public Works Department or utilize the city's engagement online/app service request system CitizenVue.

Councilman Hug briefly discussed the city's budget process and the needed $12.5 million for resurfacing and repair.

Mayor O'Dekirk briefly discussed a Press Release Lake Michigan allocation. PUBLIC COMMENTS:

None.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:

Councilman Clement thanked the Director of Public Works Greg Ruddy and City Arborist Jim Teiber for their response to the numerous calls concerning city trees.

Councilman Hug thanked the Joliet Fire Department for attending to people with high heat index related incidents at high school football games last week.

Councilwoman Quillman highlighted a ribbon cutting at Liberty Meadows for their Rent-to-Own program and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event at the Rialto.

Councilwoman Reardon thanked the fire department for their CPR certification program.

Mayor O'Dekirk highlighted the Liberty Meadows ribbon cutting, Lion's Electric tour, CN Railroad forum, and Joliet Police Department swearing in of 14 new Police Officers.

CLOSED SESSION to discuss the following subjects:

A motion was made by Councilman Cesar Guerrero, seconded by Councilwoman Bettye Gavin, to enter into closed session to discuss personnel, collective bargaining, land acquisition or conveyance, pending or threatened litigation after which the meeting will be adjourned.
