City of Lockport issued the following announcement on May 22.
On Thursday, May 21, the Will County Board voted to allow property owners a 60-day delay in payment for half of their property tax bill. Under State statute, first and second property tax installments can be split into two smaller payments.
Based on the recent County Board action, a property owner could pay half of the first installment due by June 3 and the second half of the first installment due by August 3.
The same process applies to the second installment due by September 3 with an option to pay the second half by November 3.
According to the Will County Treasurer's Office no late fees or interest penalties would be applied if payments were made by the due dates. For additional information, please refer to https://willcountytreasurer.com.
