Illinois State House District 37 issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
State Representative Margo McDermed (R-Mokena) is pleased to bring her final senior driving seminar of the year to Lockport. The seminar is intended for older drivers looking to refresh their memory of the written driving test, a necessary step to renewing your license. The free class is offered at 10am on November 18th at the Lockport Police Department’s community room.
“The Illinois Secretary of State’s office imposes additional requirements and measures for senior drivers; this class is a great refresher for those who are about to renew their licenses,” Rep. McDermed said.
The two-hour seminar will be taught by an instructor from the Secretary of State’s Office. The seminar will cover an overview of the contents of the Rules of the Road booklet and include a sample test.
“Being able to drive is an important part of maintaining independence for senior citizens,” explained Rep. McDermed. “This is one of the most beneficial classes I’ve had the pleasure of hosting during my time in office.”
This is the first time Rep. McDermed has offered the class in the northwest portion of her district. Rep. McDermed has hosted two seminars earlier this year in Frankfort and New Lenox. To RSVP, call Rep McDermed’s office at (815) 277-2079.
