Manhattan home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Manhattan rose by $36,000 while total sales increased by 7.4%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 261 homes sold, with a median sale price of $256,000 - a 16.4% increase over the $220,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 243 homes sold in Manhattan in 2016.

The median sales tax in Manhattan for 2017 was $6,264. In 2016, the median sales tax was $5,848. This marks an increase of 7.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.4%.
